This Edwardian property was originally consisted of two flats and we converted it back to a family house. Essentially the client wanted an open plan ground floor, cinema room, 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a gym.
They wish to have modern architecture internally while at the same time preserving the traditional character of the house externally.
Substantial structural alterations were needed to achieve the client’s wishes, all the internal walls on the ground floor were removed and for good measure we took out an exterior wall to create a side extension. A small basement was greatly extended to allow for the cinema room and utility area.
The loft was converted into a gym. This project is as much about architectural design as it is about interior design.
In this case the client wanted clean open plan spaces for the kitchen and family rooms and his own master bedroom. Their daughter and son chose contrasting styles for their areas. We believe we delivered a very contemporary scheme, which at the same time is very livable and warm, combining a variety of styles and feels to give a coherent whole.
